Dear Future Employer,

Hello future employer, my name is Jeffrey Wyskiewicz. I am writing to you as a recent Bachelor of Nursing graduate from the University of New England who is very interested in working as a new graduate nurse in the intensive Care Unit! I have worked on this unit as a Nursing Technician for the past 2 years and I am very familiar with the unit. I am always willing to learn from other nurses in the unit which I believe can be a great skill for me as a recent graduate nurse, because obtaining knowledge from other nurses on the unit is a great way to improve your own skills as a nurse.

As I have stated before, I have worked on this unit for the previous two years and I am very familiar with how the unit operates. In the hiring process I feel that my experience working here gives me an advantage of knowledge over other graduates who do not have any Intensive care experience. As a nursing technician in this unit, I was able to provide ECGs on patients, toileting, ambulating and assess vital signs such as glucose and temperature. While in nursing school I had several clinicals in units that I feel have provided me with knowledge that would be useful as a New graduate nurse in the Intensive Care unit. One of these clinicals was on MST 5 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. This floor was a Cardiac Failure unit in which I was able to read and assess patient telemetry and assess cardiac devices such as the LVAD.

Working in the ICU I feel that you must be very calm and determined to deliver the best care for your patients. A lot can happen very fast in this Unit, and it is important to remain calm and competent in your knowledge. I am someone who does not shy away from pressure situations and I do not deflect anything on to other people. I was named Captain of the University of New England College football team and being a leader is a quality that I feel I can bring into this unit because leadership is also a trait that every ICU nurse should have because when in an event of emergencies or if its just helping another nurse on an assignment it is important to portray great leadership to make everyone else around you feel more comfortable
