Prior to learning about the needle exchange program, I had no other previous knowledge about this program at all. So, I was very curious to learn what the program does and how it has an impact on people’s lives. It was very interesting to learn about how much this program does for people who do not have access to other government assistance programs. This program is also able to assist in multiple regions in Maine, unlike other programs that may only assist in the Portland area.
This program did not change my preexisting beliefs about this program because I did not have any. I came into this presentation not knowing anything about this program and walked away from it with so much more knowledge of what this program does. Overall, I think that funding more programs like this can help resolve the health disparity issues such as financials and even access to healthcare. Programs like the Needle exchange Program are able to combat those health disparities and help people in Maine that may live in remote areas and do not have money or may not even have access to healthcare at all. So, I believe that creating and funding more programs like this may help resolve some of these health disparities that exist today.
