As we have gone through the course of the semester collaborating with my group has been nothing but exciting and I have learned a lot about myself and the topic we are researching. Our group decided to research the topic of the effects that pet therapy has on patients in the hospital setting. We have discovered that animal behavior therapy has a very positive impact on patients in a clinical setting. It is shown that pet therapy provides a positive impact on the patient’s mental health which leads them to recover faster which ultimately leads to less time spent in the hospital. When collaborating with the group for our research paper I learned how to collaborate with others better when it comes to communication and work effort. I believe that over the course of this semester I have developed better communication strategies working with my fellow classmates and it has led me to have an increased work output. Working with others is very motivating to me because I do not want to let the group down if I do not provide adequate effort on my end. Research has made a great impact on me so far. I have developed new skills when it comes to reading articles and finding the best evidence and sources for our topic. I see evidence-based practice having a very positive influence on my nursing career. A lot of nursing interventions and actions are backed by countless articles and studies so it is very important to always be up to date on the latest research when it comes to giving your patients the highest quality care possible.
